Who is she? This tall, tan young girl. She has so much ahead of her. She’s confident and breaking towards independence. She’s powerful and knows how to get what she wants, yet still so inexperienced she’ll need help to get there. Her curly bouncy hair could tell you so much about her bouncy carefree personality. In her beauty you’ll discover “Mexico lindo”. And in her brown eyes, the key to her soul, you’ll see her bright future and her revealing past.
She’s seen it all; beauty and deception, the laughs, the fights, the tears. She’s been there for the hard times and she’ll never forget her family’s separation with it’s broken dreams and salty tears. Family made her, but will never define her, and yet she’s still a child in her parent’s cradle. She’s traveled more than many her age, experienced the beauty and witnessed the poverty. She’s recently dealt with poverty of her own. Nothing will stop her. Those big city dreams will be accomplished. She’ll not only help herself, but help those in need with troubles greater than she’s ever had.
She’s excited and she’s scared. She’s breaking free, yet she’s aching. She’s happy with her life, its just short from perfect. But she can’t let go of all she knows, she’s holding on tight, this ride is too fast. When she’s sun-kissed, it’s carpe diem. She goes with the flow and she won’t interrupt destiny, she’s so nonchalant. Then her leash will be pulled on, she’s back to reality, back in her home. It’s a perfect storm. She’s self contradicting and no one understands. She’s going to make it all work, everything will get better. And her philosophy? Give it purpose.
She’s listening, understanding, and observing. Life is an artistic mural around her and she’s to be part of it. That’s how she expresses herself. Her closet, her palette, and she’s going to show the world. Her photography, her moments, captured and remembered. And her eccentric tastes in music- for every feeling she cannot describe, there seems to be a song that can. She’s caring, loving and spiritual. She ought to regret her mistakes, her past. This sunflower is so happy with herself, she doesn’t regret a single moment. Without her past, her present does not exist, and it’s in existing that she plans to change her world.
This girl. She walks into a room full of strangers. Right foot forward, shoulders back, big smile. She keeps that confidence. She can’t see from far away, the signs, the words, the dreams, they blur. Stay strong, once she gets close, it’s within her reach. She dives head first, she knows she’ll make it. Understand this simply complicated girl, and remember her. After all, this young girl is really me.
